Today folks where going to talk about game mechanics and the camarillas soft reset.
To go over some information in a previous post, A soft reset is where you keep your character but his xp is reduced or removed completely. Why would someone do a Soft reset verses a hard reset? Well in a soft reset, you keep the story that you progressed through in a hard reset it?s erasing the entire black board and starting fresh.
They are also resetting the member class system you no longer get 20, 20, 60 for each level of Member class you?ve attained in the camarilla now you get 10*MC for you starting characters. Th
They are lowering how much xp you can earn each month instead of 10 it?s becoming 8. This means characters will take longer to improve and grow. At this pace trying to relearn everything my character already had will take years?. Over cap experience points are now becoming quarterly you get the highest you?ve earned in the quarter vs a max of what you can get in the month.
As of today where 10 div 5 that means on your pull you have to get a 10 to get a success, and then every 5 after is another success (15, 20, 25 ect) I personally think it?s a good way to do it, as traditionally
10 is your first success in World of Darkness.
How ever come June 8th when the soft reset happens, it?s going to change to 8 div 3, so 8 is your first success and every 3 after is an additional.
So here?s what where going to look at Mechanics wise.
If you had occult 4 and due to the reset you had occult 3 that basically means you?ve lost some knowledge. So if that?s the case there going to be a few things to look at.
1. Is your character even going to know?
2. Will people with Trained Memory or Eidetic memory going to know something?s missing when they try and pull up this lost knowledge?
3. Will the Rote Know thy self [Guardian of the veil], report back problems?
I?d say your character could possibly know, but how are they going to find out everything is suddenly easier for them. Are the characters going to realize this? The two merits above allow people to be able to recall anything perfectly will they recognize somethings wrong? and are they going to know what? it?s going to get very tricky in these cases I?m looking forward to how the story telling staff handles it. I think the rote is likely going to report something being wrong, hows your character going to react? Are they going to be able to handle it well?
